The Abu Dhabi Saracens Rugby Union Club located in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates was founded in 2011 as a privately owned organisation. This led to the establishment of a successful sports organisation within a sports market previously dominated by a single club. The year 2015 brought change as the club converted to a community-based not for profit rugby club.
Since 2015 the Abu Dhabi Saracens has been, and continues to be, managed by a committee of dedicated volunteers, funded by passionate fee paying players and social members, as well as supported by kind local businesses and community partners.
The club name “Saracens” defines and honours our club as part of the global saracens brand and network. These roots are based in the United Kingdom from the London-based “Saracens” Premiership Rugby Club. The Saracens Rugby Network is international and expands further than the UAE. Other Saracens rugby clubs can be found in Russia, Tonga, Georgia, Malaysia, Kenya, Brazil, Romania and the USA.
Over the last nine years, the Abu Dhabi Saracens has established itself as a formidable participant in the UAE and Gulf Rugby community. In 2013 Saracens won the West Asia Premiership, as well as the UAE Premiership competitions: all titles competed in.
The Abu Dhabi Saracens has competed in all UAE competitions since its inception, including a fierce ladies team. At its peak, and across all teams, the club has had 120 active players.
Most recently, this last season (2019/2020) the men’s 1st XV won the Gulf Rugby UAE Division One league as well as recording that season as undefeated champions.
The club welcome players of all abilities, provides pre-season training, coaching, regular bi-weekly season training and encourages everyone to be part of the Saracens family and community. The club prides itself on its dedication to being a family club just as much as as being a force to be reckoned with within the league.
